Positive False Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy Test results may sometimes be falsely positive. This is due to the presence of some chemicals in the blood and in the urine. So it is advisable that even in case of positive results of pregnancy one should consult the doctor.

Positive False pregnancy test is not a very uncommon phenomenon. Mostly in case of home based tests the results may not be very correct all the time. Positive Test may take place when HCG is perceived in the urine. At home due to several reasons the results of pregnancy test may not be very accurate. Therefore it is advised that a lady should not blindly believe in the results which are received in the home based pregnancy tests.

The main reasons as to why positive false test results are achieved is first of all the instructions which are mentioned in the packet of the testing kit is not carefully followed and secondly the time after which one should check out the results is also not followed very strictly in some cases. Sometimes checking the result twice can also give a wrong result and a positive impression of pregnancy may appear to the lady. Hence it is absolutely necessary that the instructions and the time limit is strictly adhered to.

The composition of urine plays a major role in determining the result of the pregnancy test. For instance if the urine consists of protein and medicines like phenothiczune there are high chances that a false positive result of pregnancy may appear. It is not always that the tests for pregnancy are inaccurate but sometimes due to certain negligence they may be give a wrong result. Some of the cases where a false pregnancy test may appear are:

The pregnancy test is considered positive if a colour change is observed in the strip. But at the same time if strip is left for more than five minutes evaporation starts taking its toll on the strip and the colour may change hence giving a false result of pregnancy test.

It is advised that if a woman finds the pregnancy test result positive one should immediately seek the advice of a doctor because certain cancers like breast cancer, cancer of the ovary, chorocarcinama also increases the presence of HCG in the placenta and the woman may receive a false result of the test.

Similarly a woman who is being treated for infertility and has been injected HCG may also give a positive test. Also the container where the urine is collected should not have any traces of soap or any kind of detergents because that may also give a false positive result of pregnancy.

Hence it is clear that in many cases the pregnancy test may turn out to be positive when in reality the lady is not pregnant. This may happen due to some compositions in urine or due to some external things present in the blood. Therefore it is advisable that when the test results are positive for a woman she should immediately consult a doctor and follow the medical instructions for the well being of her baby and herself.
