Medical Indemnity Insurance has limitations

Medical indemnity insurance as well as the managed care plans have limitations and PPO is such a plan which combines the best feature of both these plans and hence the policy holder enjoys all the advantages.

When it is private health care insurance there is generally two options available, they are the managed care plans and the medical indemnity insurance. But the problem is when none of these policies are enough to fulfil your needs. In that case one need to think of an alternative which has features of both that is the managed care plans and the medical indemnity insurance. A very popular alternative to both these policies is the PPO or the Preferred Provider Organization. The PPO is effective because it combines the features of both and hence can take care of the requirement of the policy holder as well as the policy provider. Rather it can be said that PPO takes care of the common interest of both the parties involved in medical indemnity insurance.

The main objective of the medical indemnity insurance is that it provides coverage to people during emergency situations which may arise due to accidents or illness. Moreover another benefit of this insurance policy is that the policy holders can select the doctors or the hospitals which they feel is most suitable to provide them with treatment. On the other hand the managed care plans are such that it provides compensation to the policy holders for the every day treatment but in this the policy holder does not have the liberty to choose the doctors. Hence it is clear that to some extent medical indemnity insurance is better than the managed care plans.

The PPO which is both a combination of the managed care plan and the medical indemnity insurance provides compensation to the policy holder at a lower cost. This means the premium which the people pay in PPO is less when compared to the medical indemnity insurance policy. Another feature of PPO is that it gives the policy holder an opportunity to choose the doctors from outside the list but keeping within a certain limit.

The PPO is different from the traditional insurance policy because in this the patient need not stay restricted to a primary physician. Rather they have the opportunity to take the advice of the specialist in case of emergency. This includes that the policy holder can go outside the list and seeks treatment from other specialist doctors.

There is some cost involved in PPO when the policy holder takes the advice of a doctor outside the list. The result is such that the policy holder pays a part of the expenses which is involved in seeking treatment from a doctor outside the list.

Finally it can be concluded saying that PPO meets the demand of all the customers who want the serviced provided by the medical indemnity insurance and the best part is that the service is provided at a lower price. Only the policy holder must adhere to some of the rules and regulations to get the best of services.
